Parish Council

Message from the Chair

I am delighted to have recently been voted in as Chair having spent a number of years on the Paris Council.

Parish Councillors are elected volunteers who represent the interests of the local community as a whole and promote a harmonious local environment. We work hard to maintain the public areas within the village as well as building relationships with community groups and residents.

Over the past year we have been successful in getting the historic part of the village designated a Conservation Area, to preserve historic features for future generations. We have applied for and been granted lottery funding to update play equipment at the recreation ground and are continually seeking funding and grants for other initiatives for the benefit of the community. We’re currently working with a small group of residents to seek funding for a defibrillator, we hope to have more news on that soon.

This year, for the first time in a number of years, we entered the Staffordshire Best Kept Village competition on behalf of the village community. The Scouts have done a litter pick, volunteers have been busy tidying up the church grounds, the tennis court and other public areas as well as cleaning signs, notice boards and the bus shelter. The school held a poster competition and the posters will be displayed around the village green. Judging takes place in June so please support this as much as you can.

The big challenge for the village currently is on-going work for HS2. We will be posting updates on the website regularly regarding planned activity and urge you to sign up to our newsletter via the website which will include updates.
